Semiconductor quantum dot devices offer functionalities that are programmed by voltage-controlled gate electrodes, necessitating new tuning procedures that can efficiently handle an increasing number of control voltages. We present a combined algorithm for taking a double-dot device from cooldown to a desired charge state, including characterization and evaluation of device usability, and sensor and double quantum dot tuning. The algorithm contains a bootstrapping module that characterizes the device and evaluates the probability of it producing viable qubits, and a charge state tuning module that takes it from fully characterized gates to a desired double dot charge configuration with a tuned charge sensor. We also explore the possibility of using automated techniques to attain and maintain gate voltage tuning configurations that maximize qubit metrics.
