Specially, volatile organic compound (VOC) is one of the main substances to be removed because it caused directly damage to human health as well as stink odor. Plasma device not only removes VOCs, but also creates harmful ozone.
In this study, surface dielectric barrier discharge (SDBD) plasma devices and catalyst are applied to remove VOC in air minimizing ozone generation by changing plasma electrode configuration and applying catalyst after plasma reactor.
SDBD electrode with multiple triangular point tips are prepared and toluene was selected as a VOC material. Removal efficiencies are evaluated according to different electrode configuration in plasma chamber and applied voltage. Also to improve VOC removal efficiency and reduce ozone generation manganese oxide catalyst was applied after plasma reactor.
*This study was conducted with the support of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technologyas “Development of inside solutions module to reduce harmful environmental factors in the atmosphere(KITECH EH-22-0106)”.
