The author suggests a method of modeling such system and examining the properties of the nano surface with the absorbed nanoparticle by calculating the absorption and scattering of a plane wave of visible light by such system. The scattering is computed for the optical frequency range. It was shown that the absorption profiles depend on the geometry of the system and on the shape of the particle [2] . We study the case of a gold nanosphere on a substrate. Gold can be modeled as a material with negative complex-valued permittivity. It was shown that the scattering profiles are different depending on the light’s wavelength. At longer wavelengths, the scattered fields from the sphere look more as the radiation pattern of a dipole antenna. The radius of the sphere can also be varied to examine how the absorption depends upon the geometry.
