Bending Sensors Using Ionic Liquid Crystal Based on Oragnic Electrochemical Transistor*

           In recent years researchers have been focusing on optimizing the semiconducting materials for organic electrochemical transistor. Organic electronics devices are promising devices in bioelectronics. The working mechanism of the OECTs depends on the injections of ions from the electrolyte into the organic semiconductor. Liquid electrolytes in OECTs are widespread, but there is a growing need for solid electrolytes since they can be easily integrated into wearable devices. Recently our group confirmed that ionic liquid crystal elastomers (iLCEs) can be used as solid electrolytes of flexible, substrate-free organic electrochemical transistors.[1]  Here we extend our studies to various ionic liquids and demonstrate that iLCE-based OECTs can also be used as sensitive bending sensors that is capable to distinguish the direction of the bending as well.
