In this talk, I report on the growth and characterization of a novel weakly itinerant ferromagnet NiTa₄Se₈. Magnetometry measurements reveal the existence of complex magnetic order, potentially with multiple competing order parameters. Our transport and thermodynamic measurements, in combination with density functional theory (DFT) calculations, provide evidence for strong electronic correlations arising from a combination of spin fluctuations and flat-bands near the Fermi level. This material may serve as a useful platform for the study of weak itinerant magnetism, and the interplay of strong electronic correlations with complex magnetism more generally.
