We present KQCircuits, a GPLv3-licensed tool developed at IQM Finland, that enables designing state-of-the-art quantum circuits and processors with relative ease, while cutting down costly human errors. Both the basic elements and chips can be drawn programmatically and parametrically at wafer scale. Masks and simulation scripts can be exported to establish a complete and robust workflow. Many example elements and chip layouts, with planar and multi-layer support, are also provided within the tool.
An Open Quantum Hardware tool is crucial to reduce design overhead for new experiments, and help refine existing ones. With KQCircuits, quantum engineers are empowered to quickly develop new quantum experiments, while having the opportunity to contribute to the codebase and libraries to help their peers and push the field forward.
