E67.00001: Instruments for researching Quantum Materials and advancing Quantum Technology Katyayani Seal Quantum Design (QD) is a leading manufacturer of tools to study quantum materials (e.g., PPMS, MPMS & the magneto-optical cryostat OptiCool). QD also distributes unique tools from other companies to advance quantum technology. The first commercial continuous ADR based sub-Kelvin cryostat by kiutra, combines up to four ADR stages to provide single-shot cooling down to 100mK and continuous cooling to 300mK. Uses include prototyping devices for quantum electronics and detector applications. The need for detecting single photons comes from applications in imaging, sensing, communications, QIS, LIDAR and atmospheric science. Key parameters include detection efficiency & low jitter. Single Quantum offers SNSPDs with a combination of both. Electronic signals produced by each photon event are processed by time tagging electronics or TCSPCs manufactured by qutools. Aresis’ optical tweezer technology, already used in bio and materials sciences, has now been modified for easy integration with existing & new cold atom setups. This technology uses AOD-based beam steering for precisely timed and positioned arrays of time multiplexed traps. Tools for Quantum Education are key to advancing workforce development & we will conclude with our entanglement demonstrator science kit from qutools. |
