The COHERENT collaboration studies the coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) through detectors stationed throughout a corridor labeled “Neutrino Alley” at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Neutrinos are produced by the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) through pion decay at rest, along with neutrons that form a background in COHERENT detectors due to their similarities in small nuclear recoils to CEvNS. The Multiplicity and Recoil Spectrometer (MARS), a mobile neutron monitoring system, serves to study and characterize these neutron signatures in order to better understand detector backgrounds. MARS exploits the use of gadolinium in order to map the neutron flux throughout the corridor of COHERENT detectors. I will present the current analysis of calibration data and work toward examining the neutron energy spectrum from recent MARS measurements.
