extreme isospin values, studied via in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy at
intermediate energies following knockout reactions and inelastic
scattering. Besides an introduction of the setup, key results will be
presented that demonstrate the close cooperation between experiment
and nuclear structure and reaction theory.
Recent experimental results will be presented that demonstrate the
efficacy of the employed method. Particular emphasis will encompass nuclear
structure around the potential new magic neuron numbers N=32,34, the
assumed doubly magic nucleus 78Ni, as well as surprising phenomena around
the doubly magic nucleus 132Sn.
