L01.00001: The James-Webb Space Telescope: Why, Where and How, and what does Hawaii have to do with it. Invited Speaker: Klaus Hodapp This non-technical after-dinner presentation will give a broad overview on why infrared astronomy is so important that the James-Webb Space Telescope was chosen as the successor to the very successful Hubble Space Telescope. The evolution in the design of infrared space telescopes and the choice of the orbit of JWST will be described. |
