Abstract: K01.00006 : Study on the Surface Plasmon Polaritons(SPPs) in Hyperbolic Meta-Materials(HMM) with Metal and Dielectric Units

Surface Plasmon Polaritons (SPPs) are hybrid electromagnetic waves that propagate in the nano-scaled units with metals and dielectric nonmetal compounds.
Both SPPs and metamaterials are key components of ongoing research in nanophotonics, with the potential to revolutionize a wide range of applications in communications, sensing, imaging, and computing.
This research studied surface plasmon polariton(SPP) in the nano-scaled metamaterial units with metals and dielectric nonmetal compounds. Both theoretical calculation and computer simulations were employed to find the optimum incident angle to maximize the absorption of the light energy. The SPP effect was observed for certain units while changing the optical variables and geometrical conditions to find electric fields and optimum angles in the nano-scaled composite materials. For example, when the metal Iron was combined with each of the five different nonmetals, the optimal angle for the SPP occurred at 47.5º, 47.6º, 55º, 20º with Tantalum Pentoxide, Molybdenum Trioxide, Iron Oxide, and Vacuum respectively. When the metal Iron was combined with Iron Sesquioxide, the optimal angle for the SPP cannot be found.
