Discovery of a new type of fractional quantum Hall state associated with six-flux composite Fermions*

The composite fermion theory has significantly advanced the understanding of many-body correlations in the fractional quantum Hall regime. While a large number of fractional quantum Hall states involving two-flux and four-flux composite fermions have been observed, a topologically protected ground state involving six-flux composite fermions has remained lacking. In this work, we provide evidence for the formation of a topological protected fractional quantum Hall state at filling factor nu=9/11, which we associate with the formation of six-flux composite fermions. Our discovery expands the family of fractional quantum Hall states with a new member characterized by higher-order correlations.
