Effects of Laser generated magnetic field effects on X-ray emission in simulations of gas-pipe targets at NIF.*

X-ray emission in plasma is largely dependent on temperature and state of the plasma (ionization and material). Magnetic fields are known to limit heat conduction in plasma transport, which can lead to secondary effects that alter plasma parameters. We examine the effects of laser-generated or self-generated magnetic fields in a gas-pipe X-ray source platform being developed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. We show that the generated magnetic fields can alter the dynamics in HYDRA simulations of the platform as well as simulated emission. Specifically, the inclusion of self-generated magnetic fields more accurately captures the emission of lower energy (L-shell) in Kr gas filled targets. Temperatures derived from weighted differential emission measure of X-ray spectra is shown to be particularly sensitive the including of the Nernst effect.
