Experimental validation of hydrodynamic code simulations in tamped metals*

We report on a series of experiments as they compare to computational simulations. We have worked across laser platforms spanning multiple energy regimes and pulse lengths from picosecond to nanosecond type experiments, ranging in intensities from $10^{10}$ to $10^{13}$ W/cm2. These experiments were conducted to validate hydrodynamic code simulations across these time and energy regimes. These validation efforts are ongoing and are focused primarily on laser matter interaction and ablation physics, working to better our understanding of how our simulations compare to experimental data and what needs to be added to the codes to improve their ability to accurately match experimental results.
