Numerical modeling of induced forces during vertical disruption events in a vacuum vessel with anisotropic resistivity.*

Vertical disruption events (VDE) can pose a significant risk on tokamak operations and economics due to the potential structural damage that can arise from them. In this work, we employ a numerical COMSOL® model to explore the effect of anisotropic resistivity on the induced forces due to a VDE. A verification of this model against the analytical model for a cylindrical geometry has been carried out. The effects of realistic tokamak shapes and characteristic parameters are then explored by taking advantage of the flexibility of numerical model.
