Here, we present the first results from the operation of a 0.8 MA, 150 ns LTD generator recently installed at UCSD, coupled to a conical transmission line to drive a variety of loads.
Initial experiments are performed using gas puff Z-pinch loads. A variety of diagnostics including multi-frame laser interferometry, XUV and optical gated imaging, Thomson scattering, X-ray spectroscopy, and time-resolved visible spectroscopy are used. Experimental data and relevant simulations will be presented.
