The Device for Indirect Capture Experiments on Radionuclides (DICER) is an instrument developed at the Los Alamos Neutron Science CEnter (LANSCE) to study n-induced reactions on radionuclides. Part of the innovation is the ability to study tiny amounts of materials. DICER expanded on this capability and studied ~1 mg of a highly isotopically pure 239-Pu material. Data on 239Pu(n,tot) are requested by nuclear data evaluators in the energy region from thermal up to 20 eV, to better inform nuclear data libraries that are used in nuclear criticality safety applications. The layout of the experiment along with the preliminary results will be presented.
