N Reaction via Activation*

 First generation stars are made up lighter nuclei than later generations. The triple alpha process is what primarily converts to lighter nuclei into heavier nuclei, but there are other reaction chains that are important to the nucleosynthesis. One of these reactions is ¹⁰B(α,n)¹³ N, which is reported on in this work. Measurements of the cross section are made down to 450 keV alpha particle energy via activation using high energy  resolution germanium gamma-ray detectors. An upturn in the S-factor, inline with data from Liu et. al. that was run using neutron detection, is also seen here suggesting there is a possible resonance at this low energy.
