Using CFD simulations, we investigate the flow of water injected from a nozzle tangent to the wall of a cylindrical chamber to generate a continuous water film covering the inner chamber surface. Our computational model is based an algebraic volume of fluids (VoF) method that considers the relative velocity in two sides of interface together with the piecewise linear interface calculation (PLIC) method to assure the boundedness and conservativeness of the interface. Two turbulence models are considered to model the effect of turbulence, k-omega SST and elliptic blending Reynolds stresses model (EBRSM). The results show that both turbulent models can correctly predict the attached water film. We validate the model and employ it to probe the effects of jet flow rate and the nozzle configuration on the water distribution on the surface of the chamber and the evolution of the water film thickness. The results can be useful for improving heat transfer in technological processes.
