Broadband Two-Dimensional Imaging of Radio Frequency Radiation using Spatially Resolved Rydberg Atom Sensors*

Rydberg atom sensors have become ubiquitous as quantum enabled electric field sensors. They have the capability for sensitive electric field measurement, are phase resolving, and provide measurements calibrated to the international system of standards. Many applications of electric fields sensors require the need for spatial information radio frequency electric fields, but atom-based measurements typically integrate over a given volume. We have developed a method that can image radio frequency radiation with 100 um spatial resolution. This allows for subwavelength imaging of various RF fields. The measurement is performed by making a light sheet with two optical fields, 780 nm probe laser and 480 nm coupling laser to interrogate the Rydberg state. The readout is done by imaging the fluorescence of the light sheet of 780 nm light on a camera. The effect on the Rydberg state projected on the probe laser fluorescence through the 480 nm laser light sheet.
