Development of spin- and density-resolved strontium microscopy*

Neutral atom quantum simulators with single particle and spin resolution present exciting opportunities for experimental research. The microscopy of the SU(2) Fermi-Hubbard model is providing valuable insights into strongly correlated fermions. However, quantum gas microscopy of SU(N) fermions, with N values reaching up to 10 for strontium, necessitates the development of novel experimental techniques to detect both spin and density at each individual site of optical lattices. We will report here on our approach to site- and spin-resolved imaging of strontium atoms. We plan to use this technique to study the fascinating phase diagram of the SU(N) Fermi-Hubbard model.
