Squeezed light has a significant role in various fields including gravitational wave detection as well as quantum communication and sensing science. Previously, squeezed light has been primarily generated using nonlinear materials with control of the degree of squeezing possible by tuning the nonlinearity of different materials. Here, we modulate the third-order nonlinear response in dielectrics with strong ultrafast fields to control the degree of squeezing in squeezed light on attosecond time scales. We demonstrate that we can change the squeezed light generated in the nonlinear process from amplitude-squeezed to phase-squeezed, in conjunction with the magnitude of squeezing, by controlling the phase delay between the input femtosecond laser pulses in the nonlinear process. These results have important implications for the study of ultrafast strong-field-driven processes in materials with quantum field observables.
