Quantum information science with dual species atom arrays*

Quantum computing with neutral atom qubits has advanced rapidly with the development of large 2D arrays and high fidelity entangling gates. Demonstrations of variational algorithms with physical qubits and d=2, error detecting logical qubits will be presented. Dual species arrays provide an efficient solution for implementing error corrected logical qubits with fast mid-circuit measurements. We demonstrate interleaved trapping of Rb and Cs atoms, and inter-species entanglement with a time optimal Rydberg gate. Progress towards logical qubits and repeated rounds of error syndrome extraction will be described. In addition to computation the dual species approach provides a convenient separation of functionalitiies for quantum networking and sensing. We are implementing a dual species array with optical interfaces that uses Rb atoms for atom-photon entanglment and Cs atoms as memory and logic qubits. Progress towards hybrid entanglement in this architecture will be presented.
