Rydberg Tweezer Arrays in a Low-Blackbody-Radiation Environment*

Rydberg atom tweezer arrays have emerged as a versatile platform for quantum simulation and computation. We report progress on preparing Rydberg atom arrays in a cryogenic environment, with a focus on mitigating blackbody radiation induced Rydberg decay. Our setup features a 4K low-vibration closed-cycle cryostat tailored for cold atom experiments, enabling extended vacuum trapping lifetimes and suppressed blackbody radiation. It opens pathways for quantum simulation using Rydberg dressing or circular Rydberg atoms by potentially extending the useful simulation times by orders of magnitude. Moreover, combined with single-photon excitation using a high power UV laser, this system can enhance quantum computing by improving entangling gate fidelities and reducing atom loss errors.
