Abstract: X11.00004 : Feasibility Studies for Measuring the Astrophysical S-Factor of the Reaction 12C(α,γ)16O via Electro-Disintegration at MAGIX

MAGIX is a versatile fixed-target experiment, which will be commissioned at the upcomming electron accelerator MESA in Mainz, Germany. A measurement is planned to investigate the cross section of the electro-disintegration reaction 16O(e,e'α)12C. With this method, it will be possible to determine the S-factor of the ground state transitions of the reaction 12C(α,γ)16O.
In this talk an overview of the S-Factor will be given as well as the planned experimental setup of the electro-disintegration measurements at MAGIX. Finally, the results of the current simulations are discussed, especially the parameter range that MAGIX can access.
