As shown by eBOSS, a very large number of spectra is required to make this measurement informative. The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) is the Stage IV survey that succeeds eBOSS and, after 5 years, will have increased by an order of magnitude the data available for analysis. DESI is already here and has been in full operation since May 2021! Using the first months of DESI data, I will present the first measurements of the Lyman alpha correlation functions and compare them with previous measurements.
This will highlight the performance of the DESI instrument and show the amazing science that we will be able to do with this new dataset.
