Panofsky Prize Talk: The Silicon vertex detector at CDF Invited Speaker: I will make an historical overview of the conception and design of the device and some more details on the construction and commissioning of the detector. Panofsky Prize Talk: The Silicon Vertex Trigger Invited Speaker: I will discuss the importance of real-time selection of events at a hadron collider, the ideas that led to the conception of the Silicon Vertex Trigger (SVT) and some historical notes on its construction and commissioning.
