Low Frequency Resonance Reduction in LIGO Detectors*

This study has two objectives. The primary objective is centered on looking into how to improve the detection capabilities of low-frequency gravitational waves. One of the current focus areas of the experimental gravitational wave detectors is to the low-frequency end of the spectrum, and this project aims to map the low frequency noise so that a detector can be made more efficient. Another aspect of this project will be to build a functional representation of the LIGO mirror suspensions to learn about their natural frequencies and how to mitigate the noise that enters in the instrument at these natural frequencies. 

In the presentation I will review the experimental set up we have at ERAU and its mathematical description for the purpose of this research.
