Generating a Synchronized TTL Signal for Data Gating in Vibration Sensitive Cryogenic Experiments*

Quantum optics experiments often require extremely low temperatures, achieved using a closed cycle cryogenic system that circulates liquid helium through experimental apparatuses. However, the compressor associated with this system generates mechanical vibrations that propagate through the helium lines, disrupting sensitive measurements. To mitigate this issue, an audio based analog signal processing architecture and accompanying software system has been developed, designed to generate a TTL signal synchronized with compressor vibration. This TTL signal enables gating of data acquisition during periods of intense vibration, thereby enhancing experimental fidelity and excluding inaccurate data.
