BA.00002: Status of the NOvA Experiment Invited Speaker: Robert Group The recently-completed NuMI Off-Axis Nu-e Appearance experiment (NOvA) will use the upgraded NuMI neutrino source at Fermilab and a 14-kton detector at Ash River, Minnesota to explore the neutrino sector. NOvA uses a highly-active, finely-segmented detector that offers superb event identification capability, allowing precision measurements of electron (anti-)neutrino appearance and muon (anti-)neutrino disappearance. Through these studies NOvA will provide constraints on theta-13, theta-23, the atmospheric mass splitting, the neutrino mass hierarchy, and the CP-violating phase. This talk will review NOvA's broad physics scope and the expected timeline for first physics. [Preview Abstract] |

BA.00003: T2K Invited Speaker: Thomas Kutter The Tokai to Kamioka (T2K) long-baseline neutrino experiment has conclusively demonstrated the appearance of electron neutrinos in a nearly pure beam of muon neutrinos. The T2K experiment also performed the most precise measurements of the neutrino mixing angle $\theta_{23}$ in the muon neutrino disappearance channel. I will present results from both of these analyses as well as those from a combined $\nu_e$-appearance and $\nu_{\mu}$-disappearance analysis. The analysis provides a first hint on the value of the CP phase $\delta_{CP}$. [Preview Abstract] |
