Among the handful of soluble models of quantum many body physics is the Lieb-Liniger gas of bosons in one-dimension interacting with a delta function contact interaction. By contrast spin polarized fermions in one dimension are known to be unaffected by a delta function interaction and to behave essentially as a non-interacting Fermi gas. In earlier work we have constructed a form of contact interaction between particles in one dimension that is more general than the conventional delta function. We find that spin-polarized fermions interacting via this generalized interaction form a correlated state similar to the Lieb-Liniger Bose gas. The generalization to spinful fermions and possible experimental realizations in cold atom systems will be discussed.
