cathode of Lithium Ion Battery

Lithium ion batteries, due to their high-power density and high energy are being utilized more and more in present day electronic devices. One way we might improve the absorbance of these batteries is by reducing the band gap energy of the materials used as either the anode or the cathode. Graphene, having a crystalline, 2-dimensional and monoatomic structure has a high electrical conductivity. Graphene is also called a zero-band gap semiconductor. Previous research supports the reduction in the band gap energy by the introduction of graphene as a dopant in thin films. (Elmas et al. 28) This research will thus seek to study the effects of graphene doping in the LiMnO₄ cathode region, to electronic energy configuration and the electrical performance of lithium ion thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition.
