Abstract: G60.00306 : Thermal and Shot Noises Generated by Hot Electrons in Quantum-Interference Devices
Quantum interference effects may be used to control nanoscale transport phenomena, including heat conduction and heat conversion processes. We present computational method that can be used to calculate thermal and shot noises associated with high-intensity heat fluxes carried by hot (energetic) electrons within the Landauer scattering formalism. The transmission probability functions for different configurations of the system of coupled quantum dots connected to metallic heat reservoirs (thermal baths) are calculated by using the theory of propagators. The connections with heat reservoirs are treated within the Newns-Anderson model with semi-elliptical density of electronic states. We used perturbative technique to determine noise power spectra with up to the second order terms in relation to temperature difference. Our results are discussed with respect to average temperature and the strength of specific connections between quantum dots and thermal baths.
