Allowing the universal terms to act as a free parameter in the analysis of gravitational wave observations enables strong tests of the simultaneous validity of these non-linear terms at several post-Newtonian orders.
The universality of this test also allows for a statistically robust combination of all gravitational wave observations into a joint validation test of general relativity across the entire population of observations.
Here I will present this validation test as well as the methods and formulation underlying it. I will also present both event specific and population-spanning results stemming from the first 11 observations of gravitational waves from LIGO and Virgo.
