Nuclear dynamics at short distances is ruled by the short-range nuclear force. Short-range correlations (SRC) are responsible for the high-momentum components in the momentum distributions inside nuclei, which are very sensitive to the nature of the nuclear potential.
In the past, momentum distributions in nuclei have been studied mostly with phenomenological or meson-theoretic potentials, such as AV18 or CD-Bonn, with or without the inclusions of three-nucleon forces. In our improving understanding of nuclear forces, chiral effective field theory (EFT) has emerged as the most advanced approach to the development of nuclear interactions. Thus, we have started a broad investigation of SRC in few-body systems [1] and nuclear matter based on high-quality chiral few-nucleon forces [2]. In this presentation, our recent findings and our work in progress
will be discussed.
