R16.00001: Charged Higgs searches in ATLAS 13 TeV center of mass pp collision data Justin Griffiths This talk will summarize the search for a charged Higgs that decays to a hadronically decaying tau lepton and its associated neutrino. At high tan$\beta$, a Charged Higgs will decay primarily to a $t\bar{b}$ or $\tau\nu$ final state. In such scenarios, the Charged Higgs will be produced in association with a top quark. The final state in this search consists of a hadronically decaying top, at least one b-quark initiated jet, a hadronically decaying tau lepton, and large missing transverse energy from the associated tau neutrinos. The results of Run 1 charged higgs searches at ATLAS will be briefly summarized, including $H^{+}\rightarrow c\bar{s}$, $t\bar{b}$, $W^{+}Z$, and $\tau\nu$. The proton-proton center-of-mass energy increase from Run 1 leads to an increase of the theoretical cross sections by a factor of 4-10, depending on the mass of the charged Higgs. Due to this increase, the run 2 sensitivity is expected to exceed the Run 1 sensitivity with only 3.2 fb$^{-1}$ of 13 TeV collisions data. [Preview Abstract] |

R16.00002: Direct search for exotic Higgs boson decays to two spin-zero particles in the H $\rightarrow$ 2a $\rightarrow$ 4b channel in pp collisions at $\sqrt$s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector Mazin Khader, Verena Ingrid Martinez Outschoorn, Roger Caminal Armadans We present a search for a Higgs boson decaying to two spin-zero particles decaying to a pair of b-quarks H $\rightarrow$ 2a $\rightarrow$ 4b. The dataset used in the analysis corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.3 fb-1, collected by the ATLAS detector during 2015. The major background comes from top pair production. Various kinematic variables are combined into a multivariate discriminant to distinguish signal from background. The search is performed for the first time in ATLAS. [Preview Abstract] |

R16.00003: Search for Standard Model Higgs using dimuon final state with ATLAS at LHC Yanlin Liu Observation and measurement of the SM H$\mu\mu$ is important for the Yukawa couplings of the Higgs boson, which is a new type of coupling (regarded as a new force) in particle physics. The SM branching fraction for the H$\rightarrow$$\mu\mu$ ?decays is 2.2$\times$$10^{-4}$ for a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV. This talk will present the prospects of search sensitivity for this decay mode with the ATLAS detector at the LHC Run 2. [Preview Abstract] |

R16.00004: Search for a neutral pseudo-scalar Higgs boson decaying to a Z boson and an SM-like Higgs boson using tau final states Tyler Ruggles, Cecile Caillol, Barbara Clerbaux, Stephane Cooperstein, Sridhara Dasu, Abdollah Mohammadi, Isobel Ojalvo, Tapas Sarangi Results of a search for a neutral pseudo-scalar Higgs boson (A) decaying to a Z boson and an standard-model-like Higgs boson (h) in the pp collision data recorded by CMS in 2012 are presented. The analysis targets final states where the standard-model-like Higgs boson decays to a pair of tau leptons, and the Z boson to a pair of light leptons. The search is performed in the context of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb$-$1 recorded at 8 TeV center-of-mass energy. No excess of events is found and upper limits at 95{\%} confidence level are set on the A production cross section in the mass range 220 \textless mA \textless 350 GeV. [Preview Abstract] |

R16.00005: Identification of jets originating from high-momentum $H \rightarrow b\bar{b}$ Rizki Syarif As the LHC operates at 13 TeV during Run II, more particles are produced with higher energies and subsequently decay into products that are observed as jets with smaller angular separations between them. A Higgs ($H$) boson produced in this highly boosted regime will most of the time decay into a pair of $b$ quarks observed as jets that appear to be merged and collimated as a single "fat" jet. Previous methods were not specifically designed to be able to identify these boosted objects. Using multivariate analysis, CMS has developed a new algorithm for identifying a boosted $H$ decaying to a pair of $b$ quarks. We present the development, performance and validation of the boosted $H \rightarrow b\bar{b}$ tagger. We show that this tagger performs significantly better than earlier methods used in CMS. R16.00006: Inclusive Higgs Production at Large Transverse Momentum Hong Zhang, Eric Braaten The transverse momentum ($p_T$) distribution of Higgs is important to check our understanding of the Standard Model, and study new physics. The effective field theory for Higgs, obtained by integrating out the top quark, breaks down when $p_T$ is larger than 200 GeV. We calculate the $p_T$ distribution at much larger $p_T$ using the framework of factorization, in which the cross section is expressed as convolutions of hard-scattering cross sections and fragmentation functions, with the leading logarithms of $p_T^2/m_H^2$ resummed to all orders. By separating the scales $m_H$ and $p_T$, the higher order radiative correction can be greatly simplified. [Preview Abstract] |

R16.00007: Flavor changing heavy Higgs interactions at the LHC Brent McCoy, Baris Altunkaynak, Chung Kao, Wei-Shou Hou, Masaya Kohda A general two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) is adopted to study the signature of flavor changing neutral Higgs (FCNH) decay $\phi^0 \to t\bar{c}+\bar{t}c$, where $\phi^0$ could be a CP-even scalar ($H^0$) or a CP-odd pseudoscalar ($A^0$). Measurement of the light 126 GeV neutral Higgs boson ($h^0$) couplings at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) favor the decoupling limit or the alignment limit of a 2HDM, in which gauge boson and diagonal fermion couplings of $h^0$ approach Standard Model values. In such a limit, FCNH couplings of $h^0$ are naturally suppressed by a small mixing parameter $\cos(\beta-\alpha)$, while the off-diagonal couplings of heavier neutral scalars $\phi^0$ are sustained by $\sin(\beta-\alpha) \sim 1$. We study physics background from dominant processes with realistic acceptance cuts and tagging efficiencies. Promising results are found for the LHC running at 13 or 14 TeV collision energies. R16.00008: Search strategies for the exotic decays of the Higgs boson into two photons plus missing energy at the LHC Rafael Teixeira de Lima, Shikma Bressler, Stefania Gori, Abdollah Mohammadi, Toyoko Orimoto, Jessie Shelton In this study, we devise a search strategy for the exotic decay of the 125 GeV Higgs boson in the $\gamma\gamma$+missing energy final state. The studied final state comes in two different topologies: resonant and non-resonant. In the resonant case, the Higgs decays into two scalars, one being undetected and the other decaying resonantly into two photons. In the non-resonant case, based on low scale SUSY breaking models, the Higgs decays into two neutralinos, each subsequently decaying into a photon and a gravitino. We estimate the sensitivity of these searches using a DELPHES detector simulation, and targeting $100$ fb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV $pp$ data from the LHC. [Preview Abstract] |
