T14.00001: Search for Chargino-Neutralino Production in Lepton Final States Julian Glatzer, Sourabh Dube, Sunil Somalwar We present a search for associated production of a chargino with a neutralino using approximately 2 fb$^{-1}$ of p-pbar collision data at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV, collected with the CDF II detector. The search is performed in the framework of mSUGRA. The analysis combines five independent channels with varying signal/background ratios and sets limits on the production cross section of chargino+neutralino in the mSUGRA framework. T14.00002: Search for Chargino and Neutralino Decays Using Taus at CDF Robert Forrest, Maxwell Chertok, Aron Soha We present a search for chargino and neutralino supersymmetric particles yielding trilepton final states, where at least one of the leptons is a hadronically decaying tau. This signature is important in the high $\tan\beta$ SUSY region where the branching ratio of charginos and neutralinos to tau leptons dominates. We study event acceptance and lepton identification cuts and efficiencies, and provide estimates for dominant backgrounds. [Preview Abstract] |

T14.00003: CMS Detector Sensitivity for the Discovery of Supersymmetry in the Same-Sign Dimuons with Jets and Missing Transverse Energy Yuri Pakhotin Preparations are underway to search for possible signatures of Supersymmetry (SUSY) or other possible extensions of Standard Model (SM) in the inclusive topology involving same-sign dimuon final state, using the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. This talk reports on the expected performance of CMS, based on full detector simulation, and studies of its effect on SUSY discovery potential. Strategy for reducing SM background, both from the online CMS trigger and from offline data analysis is presented. [Preview Abstract] |

T14.00004: Detector Effects on Missing Transverse Energy and Missing Transverse Energy Performance in CMS Elif Asli Albayrak The theories that extend the Standard Model oftentimes introduce new weakly interacting particles. These particles produce imbalanced transverse momentum (or missing transverse energy, MET) even in the hermetic calorimeters since they escape the detectors without giving a signal. Hence, the measurement of MET in Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Experiments will be a strong evidence for new physics beyond the Standard Model. Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment is designed to have good MET measurement with its hermetic coverage. In this study we present the MET performance of the CMS detector. We also show the effects of detector malfunctions, such as dead or malfunctioned detector element or miscalibrated detector region, on the MET. We found that these malfunctions increase the number of events in the tails of MET distribution, thus mimics events from new physics. We also discuss several possible clean-up methods for such events. [Preview Abstract] |

T14.00005: A Measurement of the Photon Energy Spectrum in $b \to s \gamma$ Decays Luke Winstrom The photon spectrum in the $B \to X_{s} \gamma$ decay, where $X_{s}$ is any strange hadronic state, is studied using a data sample of $B\bar{B}$ decays collected from 1999-2006 with the BaBar experiment. The spectrum is used to measure the partial branching fractions and the first and second moments for different $E_\gamma$ thresholds above 1.9 GeV. [Preview Abstract] |

T14.00007: Current Status of the XENON10 Experiment Aaron Manalaysay The XENON10 experiment is the first-phase of the XENON dark matter direct detection program. The detector is a 10 kg dual-phase liquid xenon time projection chamber, recording energy deposition in the form of scintillation and ionization, produced when particles interact with the xenon atoms. In this manner, the detector is able to discriminate between electronic and nuclear recoils, with background-rejection power better than 99\%. Deployed at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory in Assergi, Italy in the summer of 2006, the detector collected science data from August 2006 through October 2007, stopping sporadically for calibrations and an upgrade. I discuss results of the latest analyses for WIMP-nucleon cross sections. [Preview Abstract] |

T14.00008: A Search for Dinucleon Decay into Charged Kaons Michael Litos The result of a search for dinucleon decay, pp$\to $K$^{+}$K$^{+}$, in $^{16}$O using the Super-Kamiokande detector, is presented. Modes such as this are motivated by R-Parity violating modes of Supersymmetry, and can be used to constrain the parameter $\lambda _{uds}$. [Preview Abstract] |

T14.00009: Recent Proton Decay Results from Super-Kamiokande Jennifer Raaf Recent experimental limits on the search for nucleon decay are presented. Data from Super-Kamiokande, a water Cherenkov detector with a fiducial volume of 22,500 tons of ultra pure water, are used in the analysis. Analyses from SK-I (40\% photomultiplier coverage) plus SK-II (20\% photomultiplier coverage) are reported. [Preview Abstract] |
