The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will start operation in Summer 2008 at CERN. I will review the status of the experiments, and describe the presently-ongoing commissioning activities with cosmics runs. I will then discuss examples of physics measurements to be performed with the very first data in 2008-2009.
